Merry Christmas!

This year, William & Kate broke with royal tradition and opted to spend Christmas with Kate's family in Bucklebury. The other members of the royal family celebrated the holiday at Sandringham.

The couple joined Michael and Carole Middleton, sister Pippa and brother James for family Eucharist and Christmas carols at St Mark’s Church earlier today.

Kate wore her brown Hobbs 'Unlimited Celeste' coat (£329 reduced to £182) , her red Gucci monogram canvas horsebit clutch w/chain Gucci (£1200 and no longer available), and a red Pashmina.

Completing her outfit, the Duchess accessorized with a pair of brown patterned tights, her brown Aquatalia by Marvin K 'Royal' Weatherproof ankle boots and her bespoke Kiki McDonough green amethyst earrings. She also wore her hair up with her bangs framing her face.

Kate's Pregnant!

Congratulations to The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge!

The announcement came on Monday, December 3, 2012 that Kate was less than twelve weeks pregnant and was admitted to King Edward VII hospital in Central London. She was suffering from acute morning sickness (Hyperemesis Gravidarum).

The Duchess was staying with her parents in Bucklebury and was driven by William (she refused the offer to be transported via ambulance) to the hospital.

After a three day over-night stay in the hospital, Kate was, this morning, discharged. She will now head to Kensington Palace for a period of rest.

The Duchess of Cambridge wrapped up for the cold in a navy blue Diane von Furstenberg Simyonette Plaid Coat (thanks to WKW for the ID), a baby blue scarf and her black Russell & Bromley knee high 'Charge It' boots while holding a bunch of bright yellow flowers. Kate's glossy hair was immaculately pinned up into an elegant half-ponytail.

The Details

The Diane von Furstenberg Simyonette Plaid Coat ($675) is from the designers autumn/winter 2010 collection. The wool (60% cotton/40% wool) coat features a muted plaid pattern, a double breasted collar, ruffle accents around the cuffs and a back belt.

Additional information on black watch tartan

The tartan that Kate is wearing is called 'black watch tartan.' This tartan bears the name of the famous 42nd Royal Highland Regiment (The Black Watch), the premier Highland Regiment. First raised in 1729, as four Independent Companies of Highlanders to patrol and keep the peace within the Highlands. Their complement was increased in 1739 and the companies formed into a regiment. The Black Watch has a long record of military service to the nation. They were called “Freiceadan Dubh” by the Highlanders in allusion to the sombre colours of their tartan and to their employment as Watchers over the Highlands.
